Bots, copy trading and trading costs at Topstep
- Automated strategies are allowed with conditions: Topstep doesn't help set them up and makes no exceptions for errant trades or malfunctions.
- All trading must come from your personal device: VPS, VPNs and remote servers are prohibited (running automation on a VPS can get the account suspended).
- Automation through the TopstepX API needs a separate ProjectX API subscription: $29/month, $14.50 with code topstep.
- Prohibited: software, AI or ultra-high-speed systems that give an unfair advantage, and scalping algorithms or hundreds of rapid trades that exploit simulated fills.
- Prohibited: coordinated trading with others and holding opposite positions across your own accounts (cross-account hedging).
- A trade copier may be used to duplicate trades across your own accounts, including the Live Funded Account.
- No opposite positions across accounts (hedging) and no trading in concert with other people.
- All accounts must be under one Topstep profile.
Not yet confirmed by Topstep: Are fully automated strategies allowed in the Live Funded Account, under the same conditions? We're asking the firm and will update this section when it answers in writing.
